Austria : Safety System for Cars

Modern cars are equipped with sophisticated safety systems. Sensor systems decide within 10 to 20 milliseconds of an impact whether to activate airbags. In the future, safety systems will also be able to avoid or mitigate collisions.

ANDATA Entwicklungstechnologie GmbH & Co KG is developing a new process for Audi and VW. During the KISS project (Key Competence Integral Safety Systems), thousands of different crash configurations will be simulated and, through a self-learning process, the safety systems will learn to behave optimally in all situations. The jury was impressed by this performance and commended ANDATA by a nomination for the 2008 Austrian State Prize for Consulting. (Photo courtesy of EuroNCAP)
