KIRKA Tailing Dam

KIRKA Tailing Dam

Turkey has 72 % of the World's boron reserves. Tincal which constitutes  24% of boron reserves is being processed by Eti Mine General Directorate in Eskisehir-Kirka Region where the richest tincal reserves are found.

Processed liquid and solid tailings will be stored in the reservoir of the Kirka No:7 Waste Pond.  The upstream side of the pond and the full reservoir will be sealed with both proofing system elements and drainage system. The pond will be constructed in 3 stages. At the end of the 3rd stage, the crest length will be around 4 km, and will store around 63.000.000 m3 of waste.

The plant capacity is around 500.000 m3 waste per year. This project provides a storage area that could serve more than 100 years. Planning, application projects and consultancy works of Kirka No:7 Waste Pond are carried out by Erges Engineering Consulting Ltd.Co.
