EFCA has begun an active outreach campaign following the publication of its new position paper on water resilience, engaging key EU policymakers across the Commission and Parliament.
Over the past two weeks, EFCA met with Ms Janda Mirka, Cabinet member responsible for water resilience in the team of Executive Vice-President Raffaele Fitto (Cohesion and Reforms), to present the paper’s recommendations and discuss how engineering expertise can support the Commission’s work. EFCA Board Member and Treasurer, Chair of EFCA's Water Resilience Working Group and CEO of Evolta, Nele de Smet and Klaas Nijs, Business Development Manager Integrated Water & Climate Solutions joined the meeting with Ms Janda [Left picture from L to R: Giannis Dendrinos, Nele de Smet, Klaas Nijs].
A second meeting took place with the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI), Unit B2, Environmental Sustainability, where EFCA highlighted the importance of resilient water systems. EFCA also held an exchange with MEP Niels Geuking (Germany, EPP - centre-right), which touched not only on water-related priorities but also broader topics relevant to the consulting engineering sector. EFCA was delighted to have Sascha Steuer, CEO of VBI, our German member, to join the meeting with MEP Geuking [Right picture from L to R: MEP Geuking, Sascha Steuer]. These discussions strengthen EFCA’s role as a partner in shaping EU policies.
